Let’s be real: health insurance is a big expense, eating up 10-30% of our monthly income. So, it’s fair to ask: why are so many of us still dealing with chronic fatigue, stress, and illness?
Sound familiar? You’re not alone. Many patients come to us feeling frustrated and unheard. They’ve bounced between providers and dealt with endless “wellness” noise without real, root cause solutions.
But here’s something most people don’t realize: Your health insurance could actually cover working with a dietitian. And the best part? It’s often 100% covered. No out-of-pocket costs, no hidden fees — just real, evidence-based nutrition care.

What Can a Dietitian Do for You?
More than you might think! Here are just a few ways our team of Connecticut dietitians can help:
Gut Health
Tired of feeling bloated, sluggish, or out of sync with your digestion?
We’ll help you uncover the root causes of digestive issues, guide you on the benefits of prebiotics and probiotics, and fine-tune your diet to promote a healthy microbiome.
Intuitive Eating
Ditch the diets and rebuild trust with your body.
Our dietitians teach you how to embrace intuitive eating, helping you improve body image and develop a positive, sustainable relationship with food.
Women’s Health
From PCOS to menopause, we’ve got you covered.
We specialize in women’s health, offering nutrition plans tailored to support PMS, endometriosis, PCOS, and menopause.
Functional Foods

Supplements
Confused about which vitamins and minerals you actually need?
We cut through the noise and offer science-backed guidance on supplements — their benefits, proper dosages, and any side effects — to help you make informed choices.
Heart Health
Show your heart some love.
We create heart-smart nutrition plans to help you manage cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.
Weight Management
Forget the crash diets.
Our team provides sustainable strategies to support healthy weight management, combining balanced nutrition, exercise, and mindset shifts for long-term success.
Sports Nutrition
Fuel your performance like a pro.
We offer tailored advice on pre- and post-workout nutrition, hydration, and supplements to maximize your endurance and recovery.
Diabetes Management
Take control of your blood sugar.
We empower you with practical tools to manage diabetes, from balancing carbs and proteins to creating meal plans that support stable blood sugar levels.

What’s the Catch?
There isn’t one! Most major insurance companies cover dietitian care at no cost to you. And here’s the best part: dietitians don’t just improve your health—we also save you (and the healthcare system!) money with our preventative approach.
How to Get Started:
Here’s how to navigate your insurance and get started with a Connecticut dietitian:
Call Your Insurance Company
Call the "member services" number on the back of your insurance card.
Provide CPT Codes: Share codes 97802 and 97803. If these aren’t covered, ask about 99401, 99402, 99403, 99404, or S9470.
Provide ICD-10 Codes: Start with Z71.3. If that’s not covered, try Z72.4 and/or Z82.49.
Check for Additional Coverage
Ask if your insurance covers nutritional counseling for specific health conditions like:
Dietary Counseling and Surveillance
Overweight or obesity
Pre-diabetes or diabetes
Hypertension or high cholesterol
Pro tip: Preventative care coding often results in no cost-share (like co-pays), while medical diagnosis (e.g., IBS) coding may involve some cost-sharing.
Ask About Annual Benefits
Confirm how many visits are covered per year.
Inquire about any cost-sharing responsibilities, such as deductibles, co-pays, or co-insurance.
Understand the Billing Process
Your provider will bill your insurance first. Once the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is processed, you’ll be charged for any patient responsibility (if applicable).
Specialist co-pays are often waived for preventative services, but double-check with your insurance company.
